I was raised in Minnesota by dedicated left wingers in the most politically fascinating time in recent history. When I moved to SF 30 years ago, I was astounded at how conservative the politics are here. It really dusts my crops when I hear political pundits and other addlepates yapping about how "liberal" SF is. I wish. I'm beyond disgusted by how venal, how mendacious, how elitist our elected "Democrat" officials are. Feinstein is probably the most odious of the pack, but Nancy "Leave No Botox Behind" Pelosi is even more duplicitous than she. There's an interesting article about her in the last SF Weekly that describes her political origins, and it isn't very pretty. http://www.sfweekly.com/2010-08-25/news/her-house-divided/ Pelosi comes off as an old fashioned Tammany Hall dealmaker in drag. She's bailed on every "liberal" position, backed Bush on the war, sold out women in the healthcare abomination, which is probably why the rich local Republicans have backed her and will continue to do so. She's an embarrassment to me as a woman and a real Liberal, and I want her out. In fact, I'd like to see all of Congress in the unemployment line come November. You know how it is, when you've got a big purse and you have to find something in it, it's easier to just dump out the bag and repack it. I was planning on voting for a 3rd party candidate until I came across the volunteer headquarters for John Dennis, the GOP candidate who is ignored by his own party, on the assumption that the Democrats can't be beaten. Maybe it's time to prove that wrong. Dennis is not your typical GOP. He's not a TeaPartier, he's more Libertarian. He's opposed to the wars we are in now. I don't agree with him on everything, but I'd rather vote for an honest person who will at least listen to you and consider your opinion. Pelosi never talks to the voters, she does have her "low income" ethnic pets that she panders to for political expedience, and has proven herself to be untrustworthy. These wars have taken far too much from us already. Pelosi and her pals had plenty of time to do something, and they haven't. I still get angry when I remember her whining and sniveling about how she didn't know Bush was lying! Well, I did, so did a lot of people, doesn't that show she's unfit for the job? How could she not know? She, like Feinstein, will say anything for a vote, and then will do what she will for her own reasons. When called out on it, she'll cry, stamp her feet, start shrilling about irrelevant topics and insisting that she's so much better because she's a mommy, or some such codswallop. What has Pelosi done for you lately? Has she done anything about taking pot off that idiotic Schedule law? Look at where the stimulus pork is going, to developer pals of Feinstein, on massive construction projects that will never break even, and will in the long run destroy jobs. Construction work is essentially temp work, not like a factory. She is more interested in paybacks and payoffs, and doesn't understand one of Molly Ivin's observations, "Ya gotta dance with the folks what brung ya." So, what's it gonna be then, eh? A "Democrat" who is, for all intents and purposes, a GOP hack flying false colors, or someone who thinks outside of the box and isn't beholden to special interests and party hacks? We have a real choice in this election. You don't have to vote for a Democrat. Act up. Don't let the media, don't let entrenched corporate funded whores stay in power.
